Kirton drawing interest from UW

Over the Labor Day weekend, teammates Vinnie Mauro, Jermaine Barton, and James C. White all made the trek north together from Fort Lauderdale (FL) St. Thomas Aquinas for an official visit.

The trio, who helped lead Aquinas to state and national championships in 2008, were hosted by former Raider teammates Conor O'Neill and Dezmen Southward.

With a potential pipeline ready to erupt, be sure to keep your eyes on a two more names from Aquinas's national championship roster.

Reynaldo Kirton and Garth Jobb, both senior starters on arguably the top defense in the country, have already drawn some attention from the Wisconsin coaching staff.

"I've been in contact with Wisconsin since the spring," Kirton told Thursday night. "I've been in touch with Conor and he really likes it up there. He's been trying to get me up there ever since the spring.

"The coaching staff from Wisconsin has shown an interest in me. They have recruited our school in previous years. I'm excited to see what happen throughout the course of the season."

Kirton, a 6-foot-2, 190-pound safety, currently holds an offer from Maryland and has recorded a 4.5 forty-yard dash. Also known for his smarts off the field, Kirton has a 4.6 GPA in the classroom.

"I have an offer from Maryland," he explained. "Also, every Ivy League school has shown a lot of interest. Wisconsin, Stanford, and Colorado State are the other schools currently recruiting me."

"I really like the coaching staff in Maryland. It's a great school, nice facilities, great football program, and great academics."

Although he has yet to set up an official visit, Kirton is expected to visit College Park (Md.) this fall.
