Lloyd tears knee ligaments, done for season

Middle linebacker Greg Lloyd tore the ACL and MCL in his left knee in UConn's 56-31 victory over Syracuse on Saturday and will not only miss the remainder of the season but also a portion of next year.

Lloyd, who finished with five tackles, left the game with 4:31 remaining when he was hit in the knees by Syracuse running back Delone Carter while blitzing Syracuse quarterback Greg Paulus from the right side.

"You won't see him in the spring," said UConn head coach Randy Edsall. "He won't be ready for the spring. I would hope that he would be ready in August. We'll know more when they go in and perform the surgery."

Though Greg Robinson had been listed as Lloyd's back-up during the season, strongside linebacker Scott Lutrus shifted inside and Jory Johnson assumed Lutrus' role when Lloyd left the game.

The Huskies (6-5, 2-4 Big East) will continue that alignment against USF next week.

Lloyd, a junior, started every game for the Huskies this season and will finish the season with 91 tackles, the second-highest total on the team, and a sack.
