Buster Posey honored at Doak

Former Florida State superstar Buster Posey added a new title to his name a couple of weeks ago - World Series Champion. His San Francisco Giants made easy work of the favored Texas Rangers, beating them in five games to bring the Giants their first championship since 1954.

Posey was key to the Giants in 2010 after being called up from AAA Fresno on May 29th. A month later, he was the starting catcher for San Francisco, and in his first full month in that job, he earned both National League Player of the Month and National League Rookie of the Month.

The likely National League Rookie of the Year hit .305 for the Giants in 2010, including .288 in postseason play.
In his first trip back to Tallahassee since winning the World Series, Posey spoke to the media during a pre-game press conference, and was honored during the first quarter of Florida State's football game with Clemson.

When questioned about if FSU fans recognized him outside the stadium, "I didn't get recognized, which doesn't bother me one bit." Posey continued, "It's great to be back, I mean I love this place. Three of the best years of my life and obviously it's a great place to play baseball and a great place to go to school as well."

Posey was asked whether or not winning the World Series has sunk in yet.

"I don't think it has yet. I really don't. I saw a clip on ESPN today where Sports Illustrated was running their magazine for the World Series champions and I was kind of looking at it thinking 'man, I still can't believe that.' I think it will, maybe next spring training when you're announced as World Series champions. That'll be nice."

Posey explained how he checked in on and followed the Seminole baseball team all year long and was pulling hard for them, and will always pull for them.

"You form a relationship when you're around a group for three years and you spend more time with them than you do with your family."
