No. 4 FSU vs. Charleston Southern
1st Quarter Breakdown:
The FSU offense got off to a good start as EJ Manuel went 9 for 10 for 134 yards on the first three Seminole possessions. FSU found the endzone twice and Dustin Hopkins kicked a 24-yard field goal for the 17-0 lead.
Manuel connected with Rodney Smith for a 45-yard touchdown pass. Bert Reed picked up a 35-yard gain on a reverse, and capped off the drive with an 8-yard touchdown catch.
2nd Quarter Breakdown:Florida State continued to roll, but didn't roll offensively as well as it did in the first quarter. EJ Manuel racked up 165 passing yards in the the quarter alone but the Seminoles were just 1-of-4 on third downs.
Key Plays:Manuel found freshman Christian Green for a 53-yard completion, a long catch and run that set up a 2-yard rushing touchdown from Chris Thompson The score made it 31-0 with 4:44 left in the quarter.
3rd Quarter Breakdown:
FSU gave up its first points of 2011 as CSU running back Teddy Allen completed a three-yard halfback pass to Carson Leshin. FSU responded with two scoring drives of its own after giving up the shutout. Jermain Thomas helped get the running game going some as he ran for 23 yards on four carries.
A Manuel interception was returned by CSU to the FSU three-yard line. FSU scored on a 14-yard pass from Manuel to Lonnie Pryor and a 28-yard score from Clint Trickett to Rashad Greene
4th Quarter Breakdown:Florida State's second and third-team players saw all of the action in the fourth quarter but still racked up 149 total yards.
Key Plays:Trickett added a couple of scores in the fourth. He first connected with Rashad Greene on a 69-yard scoring strike - their third TD connection in two weeks - before Trickett ran in a score with 2:23 left to give the final of 62-10.
