Lacy Familiar with Much of Sooner Staff

Oklahoma defensive coordinator, Mike Stoops and linebackers coach, Tim Kish brought not only their coaching abilities to the Sooner sideline but also their relationships that they built with prospects on the west coach before they left Arizona. And it appears that some of those relationships could pay dividends for the Sooners in the long run.

One of those prospects could be Kenny Lacy, 6-foot-5 and 260-pound offensive tackle out of Phoenix (Ariz.) Mountain Pointe. Lacy was offered by Stoops at Arizona as a sophomore, that plus his relationship with the former Wildcats head coach and defensive coordinator had Arizona in the lead at one point before they left.

"I'm pretty close with both of those coaches because they offered me as a sophomore even though I sat out that season because of a transfer so that showed me how highly they thought of me," Lacy said.

The four-star prospect has been in contact with offensive tackles coach, Bruce Kittle but it has actually been offensive guards/centers coach, James Patton that Lacy has talked with the most at this point.

"I've only talked to coach Kittle once but I've talked to coach Patton about five or six times. Coach Patton is a very good coach," he said.

Lacy has received 19 offers so far from programs like Arizona State, Arkansas, Nebraska, UCLA and Washington being some of those programs. Oklahoma has not offered at this time and has told Lacy they plan to stop by and see him in person this spring.

The Rivals-250 prospect says he expects the Sooners along with Notre Dame, USC and Missouri to offer him during the spring.

Lacy talked about what it is about Oklahoma that has him interested.

"Year in and year out OU is one of the best teams in the country and I would like to be apart of it," he stated.

Recently Lacy visited USC and Arizona State and says he liked both visits, however distance is not a factor for Lacy, who currently has a 3.0 GPA. The highly sought after prospect says he is looking for a good program and good education along with other aspects as well.

"I want a good program with nice facilities and opportunities for me to be my best, along with good education and nice location," he said.

Lacy talked about his strengths as an offensive tackle and also touched on what he wants to work on to help him improve as a prospect.

"I'm bigger and a lot stronger than most players I play, and more athletic than kids as big/strong as me. This summer I will improve my hip flexibility and become even more athletic," he explained.

The Arizona prospect has hopes to announce at one of the All-American games.
