Bruins move up in team rankings with Parker
One of the highest rated prospects left on the board made his decision on Monday, and there is some shuffling among the nation's top-rated recruiting classes as a result.
Now that Parker is officially with the Bruins, the UCLA jumps from No. 3 over Arizona into the second spot on the updated 2012 team rankings list.
While Kentucky remains in the top spot, its lead is razor thin. The Wildcats' three five-star commits (Nerlens Noel, Alex Poythress and Archie Goodwin) all rank within the national top 14 and give them just enough to remain ahead of the UCLA class that gained a high four-star in Parker to go along with the nation's No. 1 (Shabazz Muhammad), No. 3 (Kyle Anderson) and No. 62 (Jordan Adams) ranked players in the country.
Making a move from just outside the national top 30 into the No. 25 spot are the Florida Gators. The commitment of in-state wing DeVon Walker gives them just enough to move up ahead of other teams in a tightly packed group at the end of the top 30. Also moving up is Texas A&M. The addition of three-star junior college power forward Andrew Young moves the Aggies from No. 29 to No.27.
From a conference standpoint, the ACC retains honors for most teams in the top 30 recruiting classes with six. The Big East and the Big Ten each have five teams included in the rankings while the Big 12 has three. The addition of Florida knocks Oregon out of the top 30 classes, leaving the Pac-12 with three teams and gives the SEC three teams as well. Conference USA and the SEC each land a pair of teams in the rankings while the A-10, Big West and Mountain West each have one team in the updated team rankings.
