2014 running back commits to Florida State
Florida State's 2014 class got a big pickup on Tuesday afternoon with the commitment of Miami Central running back Joseph Yearby.
Yearby joins Immokale wide receiver J.C. Jackson as the second commit for the 2014 class.
The 5-foot-9, 191-pound tailback pulled the trigger in favor of the Seminoles over Alabama, West Virginia, Miami and Central Florida among others after weighing the decision for close to three weeks.
"I picked FSU because I love the way Jimbo Fisher runs his program and Coach (Eddie) Gran is a really good running back coach," Yearby told Warchant.com via text message on Tuesday night.
Yearby hails from the same High School as current Florida State running back Devonta Freeman. When Yearby made his decision, Freeman was one of the first to text and congratulate him.
"He said he was very proud of me and that he will love playing with me again," Yearby said of his conversation with Freeman. "It will be great for two great running backs to hook up again and it will be a good show for the fans."
Growing up in Miam,i Yearby said everyone around him was always a fan of the Miami Hurricanes, but once he saw what Fisher was building in Tallahassee he knew he was fan of the Garnet and Gold.
"Every kid growing up was a Miami fan but I liked Florida State when Jimbo arrived," Yearby said. "He runs an awesome program."
