Penn State possibilities?

With the crushing news that Penn State University received on Monday, programs all over the country will more than likely be bearing down on Happy Valley to cherry pick players that well help their program in 2012 and years to come.

At present, Georgia has multiple open scholarships going into 2012, and below UGASports takes a closer look at a few prospects the Bulldogs could and maybe even should contact to bolster their roster.

DE/OLB Deion Barnes - Barnes is currently listed as a starter for the Nittany Lions, and was recruited heavily by and strong considered UGA coming out of high school. The 6-foot-4, 248 pound sophomore could give the Bulldogs some depth at the outside linebacker position and more fresh legs in pass rushing situations.

LB Khairi Fortt - Fortt is another prospect that was heavily recruited by the Bulldogs and he too had strong interest in the Georgia program. Fortt has experience playing inside linebacker, which will be a big position of need for UGA in 2013, and has the perfect build to play the position at 6-foot-2, 238 pounds. As a rising junior, he could give UGA a solid option at the inside linebacker position for a couple of years.

OL Matt Stankiewitch - At this point, UGA is planning on starting sophomore David Andrews at center, and there have been some questions as to whether or not the 2011 signee is ready at this point. As a senior and three-year letterman, Stankiewitch would give Andrews an extra season to get bigger and stronger, and give the Bulldogs more experience on the interior.

DL Jordan Hill - Hill is a second team all Big 10 selection by Phil Steele and a three-year letterman. A team can never have too many defensive linemen in the SEC, and Hill is the type of player that could, as a senior, come in, make an impact, and not affect the number of scholarships UGA has to give in the 2013 recruiting class.

FB Mike Zordich - At 6-foot-1, 247 pounds, Zordich is considered to be one of the top fullbacks in the country. The Bulldogs signed Quayvon Hicks in the 2012 class, but he will likely take some time to adjust to playing in the SEC. Zordich could joing rising Junior Zander Ogletree to give the Bulldogs a formidable tandem at a position that is crucial to Georgia's offensive system. Zordich, like Hill, is a senior and would have no bearing on the number of scholarships UGA could give in 2013.
