FSU's D.J. Eliot expected to be defensive coordinator

Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher told reporters on Wednesday that defensive ends coach D.J. Eliot will be Kentucky's defensive coordinator, leaving the Seminoles to join new Wildcat head coach Mark Stoops.

Kentucky cannot officially announce any assistant coaches until Thursday at the earliest.

Eliot, 36, has been FSU's defensive ends coach for the past three seasons. He previously coached with Stoops at Wyoming from 1998-99, at Houston in 2000, and at Miami in 2002. He was one of the top recruiters on the Florida State staff and was recruiting coordinator at Rice before he joined the Seminoles.

The Seminoles two starting ends, Bjoern Werner and Cornellius Carradine, are first and second in the ACC with 13 and 11 sacks, respectively. Werner, the ACC Defensive Player of the Year, is tied for the lead nationally with 13 sacks.

UK spokesman Tony Neely told Cats Illustrated on Tuesday that strength and conditioning coach Rock Oliver would remain at UK, but which sports he will work with will be determined going forward. UK posted an opening for "Football Performance Coordinator" on its website on Wednesday
