RB coach Eddie Gran telling recruits he will not return to FSU in 2013

Florida State running backs coach Eddie Gran doesn't plan to be back in Tallahassee next season.

On Tuesday morning, Gran, 47, was notifying recruits that he does not expect to return to Florida State in 2013. Multiple sources confirmed Gran's comments to Warchant.com.

Gran, who made $335,000 in 2012, formally interviewed for the head coaching job at Arkansas State on Monday, although there has been no announcement as of Tuesday morning.

Gran, who also heads up Florida State's special teams unit, is also in the mix for the offensive coordinator job at Cincinnati, where he would team up again with Tommy Tuberville, who was named the head coach there last week. Gran worked as the running backs coach at Auburn from 1999-2008, all under Tuberville.

Gran is telling recruits he expects to take one of the two positions.

Florida State ranked No. 25 nationally in rushing in 2012 and had three running backs - James Wilder Jr. (588), Devonta Freeman (630) and Chris Thompson (687) - rush for at least 500 yards. All three averaged at least 5.9 yards per carry while the team totaled a 5.5 yard-per-carry average.

Gran is also renowned for his recruiting prowess, especially in the talent-rich Fort Lauderdale area.

"Man, it's devastating," current FSU commit Adrian Baker told Warchant.com in response to the news that Gran would not return to FSU. Baker plays at Chamindae High in Hollywood, Fla.

"Me and him had a great relationship. I love Coach Gran. If he leaves, I don't know, man," he said.
