Poyer Adds Another All-American Honor

Oregon State University senior cornerback Jordan Poyer has been selected to the Associated Press All-America First Team, it was announced Tuesday. He is the first Beaver to be a member of the AP First Team since defensive tackle Stephen Paea in 2010.
Poyer, a senior co-team captain, is second in the nation for interceptions with seven. The Astoria, Ore., native has a chance to be the Beavers' first consensus All-American since center John Didion in 1967 if he is selected to Friday's announced Football Writers Association Team. Poyer has already earned First Team All-America honors by among others the American Football Coaches Association, the Walter Camp Foundation and the Sporting News.

Poyer was selected one of four Beavers to the Pac-12 Conference First Team, joining wide receiver Markus Wheaton, defensive end Scott Crichton and special teams standout Jordan Jenkins. He is tied for second in the nation with seven interceptions this season and was a semifinalist for the Jim Thorpe Award (top cornerback) and the Bednarik Award (top defensive player). He helped OSU have one of the best turnarounds in college football this year at 9-3 for the regular season.
