Davis declares for NFL
Razorback running back Knile Davis has officially declared himself eligible for the NFL Draft and has signed with MMG Sports Management and Mike Conley.
Brenden Sherrer, director of player relations for MMG, said it was a long process for Davis.
"It was a fluid process. It took many weeks, and he put a lot of time and a lot of thought spiritually," Sherrer said. "After coach was hired, he wanted to think about it.
"It was a process that was well-thought out. It wasn't knee-jerk at all. It was tough, but he ended up making the decision that he made."
Davis has finished finals at the Univeristy of Arkansas and is currently travelling to Houston.
The following is a statement from University of Arkansas running back Knile Davis, released through MMG Sports Management:
In my four years at the University of Arkansas I've had many more ups than downs. As a 17 year old coming to campus, I truly didn't know what to expect. But, with the help of the administration, staff, and my teammates, the experience has exceeded my expectation, in developing me both as a player and a man.
Over the last few weeks, I've been very reflective in weighing my options. However after careful counsel with my family and support system, I've made the decision to forego my final year of eligibility and enter the 2013 NFl Draft. I sincerely look forward to working towards realizing my ultimate goal of becoming an NFL running back of the highest caliber.
I would like to thank my team for going through the grit and grind with me over the past four years. I also want to thank my position coach Tim Horton, offensive coordinators Paul Petrino, Garrick McGee, and head coaches John L. Smith and Bobby Petrino for their guidance and support.
What I will remember most over the past four years has been the patience, support, and overall concern the Razorback Nation has shown me and my family after each setback. I will forever be a Razorback and will strive to make them proud on the next level.
