Kourtzidis to miss spring with shoulder injury

Reserve tight end Christo Kourtzidis will miss the remainder of the spring after undergoing surgery to repair a torn labrum on Thursday morning, Warchant.com has confirmed.

Kourtzidis, who injured his shoulder during Florida State's Orange Bowl win over Northern Illinois on Jan. 1, participated in six spring practices including three practices in pads. Kourtzidis participated in Monday's scrimmage, FSU's first of the spring, but did not participate in Wednesday's practice.

Kourtzidis, an Orange, Calif. native, participated in eight games as a freshman last fall. He caught one pass for 13 yards.

Junior Nick O'Leary and senior Kevin Haplea are the the first and second-team tight ends this spring.

"Mainly what I took from (last year) was you have to take things in stride," Kourtzidis said last week. "Things aren't going to go right every day, they also aren't always going to go how you want or how you expect so like I said, you've got to move on your feet, go with the flow a little bit, not take things to hard and keep your confidence up.

The injury should not effect Kourtzidis' participation in fall camp.
