FSU WR Marvin Bracy going pro in track

Turns out Marvin Bracy's world class speed won't ever be displayed in Doak Campbell Stadium.

Bracy, an elite sprinter on football scholarship at FSU as a wide receiver, has turned professional in track, multiple sources have confirmed to Warchant.com.

Bracy decided to leave before the end of FSU's track season. The first round of NCAA's are scheduled for May 22 and the NCAA outdoors are set for June.

A hamstring injury last fall, reaggravated from his track season at Orlando Boone High in spring 2012, sidelined Bracy for most of fall camp last season and eventually led to a redshirt. Florida State only lost one receiver (senior Rodney Smith) from the 2012 unit and Bracy did not participate in any spring football drills due to his track obligations.

"(His absence) will hinder him greatly," FSU coach Jimbo Fisher said in March.

A decorated high school sprinter, Bracy ran a school-record 6.54 in the 60 meters for FSU's track team in February, the fastest 60 time in the nation this season.

If Bracy had returned to play football this fall, he would have faced an uphill battle to unseat an experienced receiver unit that returns four players with at least 27 catches. However, his speed could have made an immediate impact on special teams.

Bracy was a Rivals250 member and four-star recruit out of Boone High in the 2012 class, seeing time as a receiver, running back and return specialist in his prep career.

Warchant.com will update this story as news develops.
