Original Story

Florida State wide receiver Greg Dent has been arrested and charged with felony sexual assault.

The alleged assault occurred at Dent's apartment early Sunday morning.

Dent's bond was set at $15,000 by Leon County Judge Robert Wheeler during an arraignment hearing on Monday morning. Dent will also be on pre-trial supervision and is not permitted to have any contact with the victim. The state attorney's office had requested a $20,000 bond and the use of a tracking device.

According to the arrest report, the victim stated that she and Dent were "very good friends" and it was common for the victim to stay at Dent's house.

At approximately 3:30 a.m. Sunday, the victim awoke to Dent trying to kiss her on the lips. The victim told Dent "no" but Dent became "increasingly forceful" trying to kiss her. The victim then bit Dent's upper lip and he jumped out of the bed.

Within a few minutes, Dent returned to the bedroom naked and laid in the same direction as the victim. Dent began touching the victim and was able to pull off her shorts and underwear as she struggled to resist. The victim continued to resist, eventually grabbing Dent's hair with one hand and punching him in the head with the other.

The victim also tightened her legs as Dent tried to pull her legs apart. The report states that on two occasions, Dent was able to partially penetrate the victim.

The struggle continued until Dent and the victim fell on the floor. The victim was able to grab her belongings and run out of Dent's apartment. She reported the incident to the Tallahassee Police Department on Sunday.

Dent spoke with TPD investigators on Sunday and was arrested at 3 p.m. ET. He was booked in Leon County jail at 9 p.m. On Monday, Dent was present in court via a television feed from Leon County jail.

Attorney Tim Jansen represented Dent during Monday's arraignment but had not met with him to discuss the case prior to the hearing. Jansen said the school is aware of Dent's arrest and the charge against him.

Update: Dent is expected to be bonded out of Leon County Jail Monday, Warchant.com has learned.

Dent was arrested for a violation of Florida Statute 794.011-5, a second degree felony.

The statute: "A person who commits sexual battery upon a person 12 years of age or older, without that person's consent, and in the process thereof does not use physical force and violence likely to cause serious personal injury commits a felony of the second degree."

The offense carries a potential jail term of up to 15 years.

"It's a very serious offense," Jansen said. "It's an offense that could send him to prison if he's convicted. It's certainly an offense that's going to get him suspended."

Jansen said the case centers on statements Dent made to TPD investigators on Sunday. Dent's statement was redacted in the police report released to the media.

"All we have is a statement that's attributed to him," Jansen said. "A lot of times, the officers will give their interpretation of what he said in the report and sometimes their statements will be different."

Dent, a Belle Glade, Fla. native, caught 27 passes for 355 yards and two touchdowns for Florida State in 2012. A rising redshirt senior, Dent was praised by FSU coach Jimbo Fisher as one of standouts in spring practice and was expected to play a significant role in FSU's receiver rotation this fall.

Dent was one of the recipients of the "Hinesman Award," an honor that goes to the top performers in spring practice.
