Welcome to squintgate 2013.

Jameis Winston's in-game squints caught the eye of ESPN's broadcaster Brent Musberger, and quickly became a topic of conversation. A local vision clinic also posted a photo of Winston visiting their building early in the week, adding to the conversation.

On Wednesday, Winston shrugged off thoughts that he had trouble with his vision - in case his passing this season doesn't provide enough evidence. Winston has a minor prescription for contact lenses but doesn't wear them during games for comfort and in case they're knocked out midgame.

Winston said his recent appointment at a vision center was just to get his prescription refitted. He and Jimbo Fisher both said Winston's eyesight is fine. Fisher said Winston squints in part because of the bright stadium lights for night games - and Winston's only noticeably squinted in night games at Clemson and Saturday vs. Miami.

"My eyes are fine," Winston said. "With me going to get my eyes checked I just had to get refitted for my prescription, but obviously it had to be aft everyone saw my eyes squinting."

Winston's been getting plenty of grief from teammates and fans on campus this week, he said. Students asking if Winston could see them and wide receiver Rashad Greene poking fun as well.

"I asked them in the trying room earlier today, 'Just pick something in the back of the room and I'll read it for you,'" Winston said. "That's one thing my face is always shown (during games). The other players squint, too. People say I squint worse. But if you're squinting, you're squinting."
