On Saturday, Florida State won its second straight ACC title. On Sunday, it became official - the 'Noles are headed to Pasadena to play in a national championship. If that wasn't enough excitement, on Monday morning, the Seminoles received more good news.

Four-star offensive tackle Chad Mavety of Nassau C.C. (Garden City, N.Y.) was one of Florida State's most important recruiting targets. His last visit took place back in early November during the FSU-Miami game and included his mother. On Monday morning, one of the most sought after junior college prospects decided it was time to make a decision and announced that he is headed to Florida State.

A lot of things factored into the 6-foot-6, 320-pounder's decision. Playing time, comfort with the players - including back up quarterback Sean Maguire, who he's known for 17 years. Mavety also struck up a friendship with junior offensive guard Josue Matias during his visits. The pair immediately connected after finding out they live 30 minutes from each other. Mavety also liked the relationship he saw between offensive line coach Rick Trickett and his players.

"Oh he's crazy, he's out of his mind, but he's a cool guy," Mavety told Warchant.com after his official visit in July. "He's that coach that is going to be a father type that you know is going to be there no matter what situation you go through. I remember when we were out to dinner and he made sure he brought the desserts back to the table for Josue Matias and the other lineman, so you can tell he looks after them from a personal standpoint like a father."

Mavety, who picked FSU over Ohio State, becomes the 'Noles' 24th commitment and the fifth offensive lineman for the 2014 recruiting class. He is expected to graduate in December and will have three years to play two.
