Recap: Isaiah Ford picks VaTech
JACKSONVILLE- Trinity Christian won a state title this year, riding a crushing defense and talented offensive attack to an undefeated season. Today they sent off four seniors to compete for championships on Saturdays.
The center of attention was three star wide receiver Isaiah Ford. Ford had committed to Louisville, but decommitted after coach Charlie Strong left the Cardinals for Texas. Ford narrowed down his final three to South Carolina, Virginia Tech, and Florida.
"Next year I will be playing football and basketball at," Ford paused and picked up a Maroon hat, "Virginia Tech."
Ford's commitment was not surprising, but came as relieving news to Hokie fans, as VT had two players decommit earlier in the day to sign with Florida State
Speaking to the opportunity to play two sports at a collegiate level Ford said, "The opportunity to do something really special was there and I couldn't miss out on it."
The other main honoree was fellow three star Kavaris Harkless, an offensive linemen who enrolled early at Florida. Harkless relished the opportunity to come back and celebrate the achievement with his friends and family.
David Crowley and Ernest Gordon both signed division two scholarships.
Trinity had a great class this year, but eyes are already turned to next year's class, which has eight players ranked three stars or higher already, including five star DB Kevin Toliver II, who may be the nation's best junior.
