Three-star guard commits to FSU
Florida State seems to be making Maryland an important part of its plans for the future. In 2014, the 'Noles signed offensive tackle Brock Ruble of DeMatha in Hyattsville. They also signed defensive end Rick Leonard of Middletown. On Sunday evening, the 'Noles kept the momentum going with a commitment from another Maryland prospect, three-star offensive lineman David Robbins of Glenelg.
Robbins knew for awhile that FSU would be his college destination. But he wanted to wait for awhile to let all the excitement sink in before making his decision. On Sunday evening, he decided it was time to make his choice.
"I committed to Florida State tonight," Robbins said. "There were so many reasons why I picked them. It was a combination of everything - the way they develop offensive lineman is the best I've seen, the coaches and my comfort on campus were some of the big reasons."
Robbins told Warchant.com there isn't a set position for him yet - which means he could play any of the three positions because of his versatility. In high school, Robbins played guard, but it sounds like it wouldn't be a surprise if the 6-foot-5, 295 pound prospect ends up on the end.
"Coach Trickett likes my long reach and quickness for the offensive tackle position," he explained. "But also feels my power inside could be an area I play at as well."
Robbins joins Cole Minshew as the second offensive line commitment in the 2015 class. He is rated as the No. 30 offensive guard and No. 14 in the state.
