WR Wilson arrested on felony charges, suspended

Florida State sophomore WR Jesus Wilson has been arrested and charged with felony grand theft auto, according to police reports.

Wilson was arrested and booked on Wednesday on charges of third degree grand theft auto for allegedly stealing a moped while on FSU's campus.

According to police reports, Wilson allegedly took a moped valued at $1,000 after the owner had left the keys in or nearby the moped. When the theft was reported to FSU police, Wilson was found riding the scooter and denied that he'd stolen it. He later called FSU police and admitted to both stealing the scooter and crashing it, causing damage, and turned himself in on the arrest warrant.

Due to FSU rules, Wilson will be suspended from the team while facing the felony charges, and could face punishment up to a $5,000 fine, 5 years in jail or 5 years probation.

According to a released statement from Florida State, Wilson is currently suspended from the team but remains eligible to practice and train under the athletics code of conduct policy. However, he will be unable to compete in games as long as the felony charges are pending.

Wilson saw limited action as a WR in 2013 but is slotted for an expanded role as a possible starting slot receiver in 2014. He had three catches for 23 yards in 2013.
