FSU lands No. 1 ranked JUCO DT
Florida State is off to a good start with 13 verbal commitments in the fold for the 2015 recruiting class. However, none of those committed prospects are defensive tackles. That changed on Sunday when four star junior college standout D.J. Jones made a pledge to FSU's Jimbo Fisher.
During a visit to Florida State's campus over the weekend the 6-foot-2, 310-pound tackle from East Mississippi Community College (Scooba, Miss.) decided to end his recruitment and commit to the Seminoles.
Jones confirmed via text with Warchant.com that he committed to the Seminoles and later tweeted his decision.
Jones, who is ranked as the No. 1 junior college defensive tackle by Rivals.com, was being pursued by pretty much every major powerhouse program in the Southeast including Tennessee, Alabama, LSU, Clemson, South Carolina, Auburn, Ole Miss, Florida and Georgia.
Jones is on track to enroll at his college of his choice next January and will have three years to play two.
In his first junior college season, Jones racked up 49 tackles and had eight sacks.
