A big piece of the recruiting rankings puzzle is how teams do individually at each position

A big piece of the recruiting rankings puzzle is how teams do individually at each position, and Rivals.com is proud to present an in-depth look at the top five teams at each of the positions.

There were some interesting battles for the top spot at each position - including at quarterback. Were Xavier Lee and Drew Weatherford enough to put Florida State on top or did Texas Tech beat them out with their signal-callers?

Find out this and more in this Rivals.com exclusive.

Washington 1 1 0 0 5.00 208

Florida State grabs the top spot at the position with the additions of Xavier Lee and Drew Weatherford. However, Texas Tech should be commended for the job they did with the additions of Graham Harrell and Robert Johnson. Oklahoma - with quarterback Rhett Bomar - has the No. 3 class for quarterback.

Look out ACC defenses because the Miami running back class is simply scary. The addition of Andrew Johnson on signing day was sweet. Oklahoma with the nation's No. 1 running back, Adrian Peterson, is at No. 2. Iowa State produced the nation's No. 3 class with the especially sweet addition of Webster Patrick, the nation's No. 1 all-purpose back. Georgia's running back class is highlighted by fullback Brannan Southerland.

It's scary to think about what SEC defensive coordinators will have to defend with the nation's No. 1 receiver Early Doucet and five-star receiver Xavier Carter heading to LSU. Texas replenished the big three receivers with a class that features five receivers, including star Myron Hardy and George Walker. The Wolverines' class is also sweet at receiver with Adrian Arrington and Doug Dutch starring.

LSU nabbed the top defensive tackle class in the nation with the additions of sparkplug defensive tackle Marlon Favorite and juco stud Claude Wroten. Bama and coach Mike Shula scored the nation's No. 2 defensive tackle class and the late addition of Lorenzo Washington was especially sweet. Tenessee, Texas and South Carolina round out the top five for the defensive tackles.

USC - again - grabbed another No. 1 ranking at a position with five-star defensive end Jeff Schweiger Jr. as the best end in the Trojan class. Not far behind USC are Florida and Georgia. The Gators' class is bolstered by five-star pick Derrick Harvey. UGA's top defensive end is Brandon Miller, the nation's No. 1 weakside defensive end.

Florida State's class at linebacker might be one of the best backer classes in recent memory. With additions of Lawrence Timmons and Jae Thaxton, the Seminole class is smoking. USC's LB class is also something special with five-star juco linebacker Ryan Powdrell and five-star high school linebacker Keith Rivers topping the list.

Along with cleaning up at linebacker, Florida State tore its opponents to shreds with its defensive back class. Watch out for Tony Carter, Trevor Ford and J.R. Bryant at corner for FSU. Ohio State and Florida's classes are impressive with OSU led by Ted Ginn Jr., the No. 2 player in the nation, and UF led by Kyle Jackson, the No. 2 safety in the nation.
