FSU hoping to land Delray Duo

Florida State coaches have been driving down the East Coast of Florida this week, hot on the trail of several prospects. Two guys high on the wish list are Atlantic Community High School teammates Preston Parker and Orlando Franklin. John Lilly and Mark McHale made the trip to see Parker last week and other Seminole assistants paid a visit to Franklin a few days prior.

"They want both of our guys," said Atlantic Head Coach Chris Bean. "It depends on how they sell the program. Do they have what these guys want? Can they fit into the program? They also want to consider how long it will take to get on the field and what's up with your major. Do they graduate players on time?"

Both Franklin and Preston plan on taking official visits to Florida State, however, according to Coach Bean, neither has set up a specific date for the trip. In what could be bad news for the 'Noles, both will most likely take their final official visit to Miami, feeding the fire that the 'Canes are the leaders.

"Orlando took his visit to Minnesota and Preston took his to NC State," said Bean. "Both will take all of their visits. Both will go to FSU and Miami. Orlando will probably go to Louisville and Michigan too."

Parker, a recently named four-star prospect, finished this season with 38 receptions for 900 plus yards in 9 games. He also ran the ball and threw the ball for over 200 yards.

Franklin, who was just recently received an FSU offer, just completed his first year of high school football. He did extremely well for a rookie not giving up a sack and grading out at 90 percent or better in each game.

"This was his first year playing," said Bean. "We got Orlando from Canada. He sat out his junior year and played for us as a senior. Both guys are going to take their visits and make their evaluation and things that are important."

No plans have been made for the Delray duo to make their announcement, but it won't be before they take their final visit to Coral Gables.
