Inman changes course

Batesburg-Leesville wide receiver Dontrelle Inman had been leaning towards making a commitment early next month, but has since decided to wait a little longer before deciding where he'll spend his next four to five years.

"I've decided to do more research and visit more schools before doing anything," the 6-foot-3, 185-pound Inman said. "I'm going to at least wait until the first two or three weeks of the season to see how all the teams start off the year."

One such team is South Carolina, a school Inman received a visit from on Monday.

"Coach (Steve) Spurrier and Coach (Robert) Gillespie came by the school. They were just telling my coaches how they need wide receivers because they don't have a lot of depth there. That sounds good to me because I know how they like to put the ball it in the air, and it's like my home town school."

Inman also has offers from Auburn and Maryland.

"Auburn won't have a lot of wide receivers after this season, so I'd get a chance to compete for a starting position if I went there. I don't know as much about Maryland except that they run some five-wide in their offense."

Georgia and Clemson round out his current top schools.

"Georgia is so nice because their facilities are so big and everything seems new. It's also all about football in Athens. Clemson is trying to sell me on playing defensive back. They think I can be a big safety in their scheme and said they'd offer me if I'd play that positoin. Right now I want to play wide receiver, but I'll see how my senior season goes."

Inman, who caught 31 balls for 400 yards and four touchdowns on offense and collected 69 tackles and six interceptions on defense as a junior, has a clear order of his top teams as of today.

"It's USC, Georgia, Auburn, and then Clemson," he said. "That's in order."

Inman had planned to attend this weekend's NIKE Camp in Athens, but has instead decided to attend the Gainesville event in May.
