Pac 10 Week 3 Recap
Arizona
The Wildcats lost for the second time this season to a Mountain West opponent, falling 29-27 to New Mexico. Arizona's Willie Tuitama passed for 446 yards, second-most ever for the Wildcats, and three touchdowns. The Lobos had lost nine in a row to Pac-10 foes.

Arizona State
Backup TB Keegan Herring, playing because of an injury to starter Ryan Torain, rushed for 161 yards and two TDs on 19 carries as the Sun Devils downed San Diego State 34-13. It's the second consecutive 3-0 start for Arizona State, which scored on its fifth play from scrimmage and was in control thereafter.

California
Senior TB Justin Forsett ran for 152 yards and a career-high three TDs as the Golden Bears romped past Louisiana Tech 42-12. Lavelle Hawkins returned the opening kickoff 90 yards for a TD, and Cal cruised from there. "You could put a tent on our kick-return coverage team," Louisiana Tech coach Derek Dooley said. "It looked like a circus." It was the Golden Bears' ninth consecutive home-field victory.

Oregon
Coach Mike Bellotti got his 100th career victory as the Ducks crushed Fresno State 52-21. QB Dennis Dixon threw for two TDs and ran for another, and TB Jonathan Stewart ran for 165 yards and two more scores. The Ducks led 21-6 after one quarter and 42-14 at halftime. Fresno was 3-for-15 on third-down conversions.

Oregon State
The Beavers piled up 607 total yards in crushing I-AA Idaho State 61-10 in OSU's first Saturday game of the season. Sean Canfield threw for 353 yards and three TDs as the Beavers earned their second win of the year. The Beavers came up with four interceptions.

Stanford
The Cardinal got its first shutout since 1996 in a 37-0 blanking of San Jose State. It was Stanford's first home shutout since 1972. TB Toby Gerhart ran for 140 yards and a TD to spark the offense. He became Stanford's first 100-yard rusher since Oct. 2, 2004. Stanford scored just 33 points in its five home games last season.

UCLA
The Bruins committed five turnovers and 10 penalties, and were crushed 44-6 by Utah. UCLA QB Ben Olson threw for 290 yards but also tossed three interceptions. Both of UCLA's fumbles came inside Utah's 2-yard line.
Next: Saturday, vs. Washington.
USC
The Trojans rushed for 313 yards and five TDs in rolling to a 49-31 victory at Nebraska. Stafon Johnson led the way with 144 yards and a score. USC had six runs of at least 20 yards, and the Trojans are 61-6 in their last 67 games.
Next: Saturday, vs. Washington State.
Washington
The Huskies' defense played well for a half, then wore down in a 33-14 loss to Ohio State. The Huskies led 7-3 at halftime, but Ohio State took control with two third-quarter TDs. Washington committed four turnovers, including three interceptions by Jake Locker. The quarterback ran for 102 yards and passed for 153.
Next: Saturday, at UCLA.
Washington State
Alex Brink threw for 307 yards and four TDs as the Cougars beat Idaho 45-28 in the 90th renewal of the series. The schools are about 10 miles apart, and the Cougars lead the series 70-17-3. Dwight Tardy rushed for 108 yards and two touchdowns for the Cougars, who came up with four interceptions.
