New Heights 2010 stuns Team Underrated
After winning the silver championship at the Hoop Group Jam Fest in Providence, RI over the past weekend, the young; the very young New Heights 2010 continue to turn heads.
This time the heads that were turned were that of Team Underrated who were on the receiving end of a 71-70 defeat by this evolving phenom team that plays way up and wins.
In the second game at the iS8/Nike on Tuesday, freshman point guard Corey Edwards would get things poppin' for the young New Heights 2010 team with a quick lay-up followed by an assist to teammate Devon Collier for the dunk.
Senior point guard Mikey Russell of Baldwin H.S. and John Nielson would fire from the arc for Team Underrated and it was "game on"
A Harold McBride three ball would put New Heights up 4 points early.
Soon after, Ryan Creighton would strike back from outside to give Team Underrated their first but brief lead.
McBride, a 6'0" sophomore guard at St. Raymond's, was impressive on offense, bangin' buckets from the outside and causing turnovers on defense.
Edwards, a 5'10" freshman at Christ the King, would nail points from the corner. JayVaughn Pinkston and Collier would score put backs to put New Heights up by 13 points at the end of the first quarter.

Team Underrated came out in the second half with the look of determination but Edwards is a tough point guard facilitated good ball rotation.
Relentless on defense, Team Underrated's offense only managed to knock off one point from New Heights lead.
Team Underrated went to a full court press which forced Edwards to travel with 3:32 left in the third.
Devon Collier, who recently transferred to St. Anthony's along with teammate Ashton Pankey, showed excellent ball handling skills going full court for the lay-up as the lead grew to 23 points. Pankey was unavailable for this game.
Brandon Frazier, 6'1" sophomore at Bishop Loughlin, was also impressive with an acrobatic reverse bucket. Another Collier dunk would end the quarter 61-39, New Heights 2010.
If Team Underrated had any chance of pulling this out for a win, the time was now.
Two Creighton swishes and buckets off turnovers would quickly shrink the New Heights lead to 8 points with 4:03 left in regulation.
New Heights youth began to show as they began to focus to much trying to hold on to their lead as opposed to maintaining and trying to increase their lead.
A turnover resulted in a bucket by Barber with 2:57 left.
