QB transferring to Louisville
Justin Burke decided to transfer to the Cardinals. The former Lexington Catholic QB will be on campus to start the fall semester.Louisville gained even more talent in the backfield Monday when North Carolina State quarterback
Burke released a statement earlier today: "With the situation here, I felt I needed to do something that was important to me. I had a great experience at NC State and it was a special place for me over the last two and a half years. The entire coaching staff and the support staff have been great to me. I want to thank them and my teammates for being there for me. I wish them all the best."
Burke is a 6-foot-3, 220-pound pocket passer who saw spot duty in the Wofford, Clemson and Florida State games last season. He completed 2 of 3 passes for 15 yards and threw an interception against Clemson. Burke was expected to be NC State's starter this season after completing 17 of 24 passes for 191 yards and two touchdowns during the 2008 Red/White spring game.
He was a three-star recruit in high school, completing 225 of 365 passes for 3,789 yards and 62 touchdowns as a senior in 2005 at Lexington Catholic.
N.C. State coach Jim O'Brien commented on Burke's status on Monday, "[Justin's] a great kid and he's done a great job for our program. He's decided to transfer to the University of Louisville. He's a great kid for our program and a great player."
UofL confirmed the transfer to CardinalSports.com on Monday.
