Brazinski set for Sunday announcement

Last June four-star offensive center Mark Brazinski decided that Rutgers was the place for him. Less than two months later, the Somerville (N.J.) Immaculata product decided that being a Scarlet Knight wasn't right for him.

That brings us to the present and Brazinski is again going through the decision making process.

"After my commitment I sat down and did a lot of research and realized it wasn't the place for me," Brazinski said. "I think sometimes I do too much work research into it but I realized this is a major decision so I did spreadsheets and basically beat the numbers into a pulp and saw where everything compared. That helped me in making my decision."

The second decision for Brazinski has already been made, but will become public on Sunday evening at the Under Armour All-American Game.

"I am announcing at the game," Brazinski said. "The five hats I am going to have on the table are Florida State, North Carolina, Boston College, the University of Pennsylvania, and California."

The 6-foot-3, 297-pound offensive lineman talked about each of his finalists.

California: "I took a trip out to California last weekend. It was very warm. The coaches are very knowledgeable. They have the third highest-rated business school according to U.S. News & World Report and they are 21st overall as a school according to U.S. News & World Report. They are the top public school."

North Carolina: "I took my official visit a couple of months ago. It was a lot of fun. The kids were great. Butch Davis is a very knowledgeable man. Their business school is among the top 20 according to U.S. News & World Report."

Penn: "That is a I-AA Ivy. My brother played there. They have the Wharton School of Business, it is the number one business school in the world. My brother is currently a trader for a hedge fund on Park Ave., one block away from Wall Street. That is a once in a lifetime opportunity, to get a job like that. That is amazing."

Boston College: "I took multiple visits there. My official visit was to see them play Notre Dame. Great atmosphere and great coaches. Nice, cozy feeling to the campus. They have a top 20 business school according to U.S. News and World Report which is something that I look into a lot."

Florida State: "It has a very big football tradition. You know you are going to go to a big time bowl every year. They also have great fan support."

Brazinski said that in making his decision, he used three specific breakdowns of the prospective universities.

"I want to win a lot of football games, that is first and foremost. This is the only time in your life you get to do this and I want to go to a big time bowl. I want people to know what program I go to.

"The business school has to be a very top notch type of school because I want to be challenged academically. I want to enjoy life after football which includes having a real job.

"I want to fit in. I want to be able to come in, sit down with a group of guys who are already there, and feel comfortable with them. I also want to feel comfortable with the coaches because they decide who is and isn't going to play. Most of all, you are going to be dealing with these people for at least 40 hours every week so you want to be able to enjoy being around them."

On Sunday night, Brazinski will let it be known which school he thinks provide the right fit for him.
