Powell is originally from Orlando (Jones), Florida and was a teammate of Seminole defensive tackle Chris Woods. Powell has three years of eligibility to play two and will enroll this summer. The former high school linebacker is being recruited to play defensive tackle at Florida State. "He is extremely quick off the ball," said his coach Kenny Edenfield. "Eric is a prime example of how junior college can help a recruit out. He wasn't recruited much out of high school because of his grades. He has really improved himself."
