White enjoys official visit

De Queen (AR) running back Greg White visited Columbia for the first time in late July, and his unofficial visit left him so impressed he committed to Missouri when he arrived home.

This past weekend, White took his first and only official visit to Missouri. What he saw on a game day Saturday in Columbia left him "blown away."

"It was great," White said. "The stands were filled up, everyone was in gold. It was funny because there was a little section of orange, the twenty or so Bowling Green fans, and that was it. Everything else was gold."

The game was closer than White (and most people) expected, but the three-star athlete said he was impressed with the team Gary Pinkel has fielded.

"It shows that you got to play all four quarters of the game," White said. "They started slowly, but they didn't give up. They showed they had fight. I mean, they lost all those seniors and they're still out there winning games. They stepped up and did what they had to do."

White was immersed in the gameday experience, not only as a fan but as a player. He was able to see how the players prepared for the game as they stretched and got ready in the training room, and was on hand for the Tiger Walk across the bridge that spans Providence Road.

While at the game, White also talked with a future teammate in Anthony Gatti, and the current No. 1-target for Missouri: Liberty (MO) receiver Marcus Lucas.

"I told him he needed to commit soon," White laughed. "But he said he wanted to take his time."

His solid commitment only grew stronger after what he called a great visit. Now, White is focused on winning a state title at De Queen, and overcoming a hamstring injury that limited him in his last game.

"I ran the ball three times for 21 yards, and caught two passes for 56 yards," White said. "But they mostly just rested me to get me ready for the rest of the season."
