Aaron Jones gets a call from FSU

Don't miss your chance to talk serious Seminole football recruiting with the experts on the Warchant.com Premium Recruiting Message Board
Monday marked the first day in months that college coaches could contact recruits via telephone. As you would expect the Seminole coaches have been burning up the phone lines and will continue to do so for several days. One prospect that heard from FSU the very first day of the "contact" period was Aaron Jones. That's not surprising considering that many believe the 6-foot-3, 262-pounder is the top defensive lineman in the state.

Florida State defensive line coach Odell Haggins did the honors for the Seminoles.
"He was telling me how they need me at FSU and they want me up there," Jones said. "They wanted me to come up to the game this weekend but I'm going to the Florida-Miami game this weekend. I'm going to try to make the FSU-Miami game at FSU this year.
"I'm ready to see what these teams are about, see where I'm at with them, and see where I need to be at."
Although the Orlando Edgewater standout hopes to make a handful of "unofficial" visits over the next couple months, he plans on waiting until after the season to make his "official" visits. In all likelihood a commitment will not come until he completes his official visits.
The battle for four-star DT will probably come down to two bitter instate rivals.
"Right now it's FSU and Miami as my top two," Jones said. "I've still got my other three spots open."
Jones mentioned Ole Miss, LSU, Georgia and NC State as the top contenders for his remaining official visits.
Edgewater opens the season this weekend versus Cypress Creek but they were able to get in a preseason warm-up last weekend against 3A power Daytona Beach Seabreeze, and all-world quarterback Xavier Lee. After seeing the five-star signal caller up close, you can now count Jones as a believer.
"Xavier lee, that boy can play. He's awesome," Jones said. "I hit him but they tried to call a late hit on me. I got about six or seven hurries in the game."
Jones carries a 2.8 GPA and is on track to academically qualify.
