Luke Kromenhoek never seems to miss out on a chance to get back on Florida State's campus.
FSU's 2024 quarterback commit was back at Doak Campbell Stadium Saturday, spending his fourth visit to FSU of the year as a participant in the Seminoles' Elite Camp.
While the 6-foot-3, 181-pound quarterback impressed during the workout, throwing to a talented crop of wide receivers, running backs and tight ends, perhaps the more important part of the visit was to serve as a recruiter.
FSU's 2024 class is in good shape at 10th in Rivals' class rankings midway through June, but Kromenhoek was working on a number of prospects, including wide receiver Cam Coleman, while back on campus for the Elite Camp.
"I feel like since I'm the quarterback, it's my job to head up that class and make sure that this class is in the right direction and trending towards the top," Kromenhoek said.
The camp also provided a chance for Kromenhoek to work with a number of FSU commits, including tight end commit Landen Thomas, running back commit Kameron Davis and wide receiver commit B.J. Gibson.
Working with Gibson for the first time since Gibson committed to FSU in April, Kromenhoek came away impressed.
"He's a smooth dude. He's smooth, that's pretty much the main word I'm going to use for him. He's a freak, so quick in and out of stuff," Kromenhoek said of Gibson. "He's a competitor, willing to do whatever to win that rep. I think there's going to be a really good connection there in the future."
Gibson was the only one of FSU's four wide receiver commits in its 2024 class in attendance at the Elite Camp. With four receivers already in the fold and FSU in contention to add more wideouts including Coleman, five-star Joshisa Trader and four-star James Madison, Kromenhoek can't help but feel blessed when considering the group of wide receivers being built around him in FSU's 2024 recruiting class.
"It makes my job easy. Those are the dudes who make me look good. As many dudes as we can get, we're happy," Kromenhoek said. "I think we've got a great core wide receiver group committed right now. Some dudes who want to be out there, want to compete, willing to do whatever. Those are the type of dudes that we want. I think that we've done a good job of getting them and I'm excited to be able to work with them."
Another player Kromenhoek got to work with Saturday was fellow FSU quarterback commit Tramell Jones Jr., a 2025 signal-caller who committed to FSU in April. The pair have a previous relationship as they both train with Denny Thompson at 6 Points QB Training in Jacksonville. They got to further build that bond while throwing to and alongside each other during the Elite Camp.
"Tramell is a great dude, great athlete, hell of a quarterback..." Kromenhoek said. "Getting to be out here at the college we're both committed to is awesome. He's like a brother."
Kromenhoek will be back at FSU in less than two weeks for his official visit June 23-25. Before that, though, he'll be out in Los Angeles this week to compete in the Elite 11 Finals June 14-16.
The annual competition pits 20 rising senior quarterbacks against each other in a series of competitions including various drills, classroom instruction and off-field development. At the end of the event, the Elite 11 are named from that group of 20.
Kromenhoek heads to California this week with a goal far beyond just making the Elite 11.
"I'm going to win it. This is a business trip. Yeah, I can go and make relationships, but the main goal is to go win it. That's what I plan on doing..." Kromenhoek said. "I'm super excited. There are a ton of highly-rated quarterbacks out there who are great athletes. I'm just excited to be able to go out there and compete with them, throw with them and showcase my talent alongside them."
