One of the fastest rising prospects in the most recent Rivals100.com rankings is Citra (Fla.) North Marion wide receiver Greg Carr. On the strength of 42 catches, 1,142 receiving yards and and 13 touchdowns in his senior season, The 6-foot-5 wideout jumped from a No. 42 ranking all the way to No. 20 at wide receiver. That also bumped him up to the status of a four-star recruit.
As you would expect from such a highly regarded prospect, he is getting plenty of interest from some of the nation's top programs and has approximately a dozen or so scholarship offers.
Now that he knows his basketball schedule, Carr expects to schedule his official visits within the next couple weeks. Two schools that will certainly get visits are Florida State and Georgia. Carr says that he considers himself "open", but that the Seminoles and Bulldogs hold the advantage at this stage of the recruiting process.
The all-state receiver likes both programs equally, but for very different reasons.
"For the 'Noles it's Florida State and in itself that's enough for me. I just feel like if I had the chance and made the decision to go there it would be a great honor," Carr said. "At Georgia, right now they are really in need of some receivers. The coaches are telling me that they may be losing six receivers and said it's a possibility that I could come in and get some playing time next year. So that has kept my eye on them since I might play early."
The other schools that should receive official visits include Miami, Alabama and Wake Forest.
In addition to preparing for the upcoming basketball season, where he plays point guard, shooting guard and small forward, Carr is making more of an effort to improve his academics. He recently scored a 16 on the ACT, but will need to bump that up a point and two, and finish strong in the classroom to get qualified. He plans on taking the ACT again on December 13th.
