A lot has happened in the four months since quarterback Luke Altmyer committed to the Florida State football team.

Altmyer has received offers from several big-time programs, including the University of Alabama, he was invited to play in the the Under Armour All-America Game, and he and his high school teammates have recently started working out after missing a few months due to the coronavirus pandemic.

In this edition of "Checking in on the targets," Altmyer discusses those topics, how recruiting is going for FSU and much more.

Checking in on the targets: QB Luke Altmyer

Before we delved into what is going on with his recruitment and how he feels about all of the added attention, we first asked Altmyer how things are going as he prepares for his senior season of high school.

"We actually just started with football workouts this past Monday, and I'm really excited about working with my team again," the Rivals250 prospect said. "It's been a great two days. I've been going down to Mobile (Ala.) to work with my trainer a lot. Then this weekend, I went over to the Under Armour camp, and I was blessed to get an invitation to that game."

Even though this was his first camp appearance since everything got shut down in March, Altmyer said he was confident heading into the event. The four-star recruit also shared what he's been working on during the offseason.

"I know my talent, and I believe I'm the best quarterback in the nation," Altmyer said. "So it went really well. On my game. When I watch my film, I play a little on my toes, almost like a tip-toe when I sit in the pocket. Trying to stay more on my legs with the throws to generate more power, more velocity, and that creates more accuracy. The weight training has also been big in helping my speed and strength in a lot of ways."

Long before he committed to FSU, Altmyer had a strong relationship with new head coach Mike Norvell and offensive coordinator Kenny Dillingham. The Mississippi product said he still speaks with them frequently, as well as others on the staff.

"I talk with a lot of the guys. I actually FaceTimed with Coach Norvell the other day," Altmyer said. "That's always a lot of fun for me because I'm so comfortable with him. I would say I talk with Coach Dillingham the most out of any of them. I talk with Coach Woodson a lot as well, and I've talked some with Coach Marve, as I've known him for a little bit. We just talk about how I'm doing and how they are doing, and we talk about recruits and how I'm ready to be there."

Altmyer then expounded on why he connects so well with Dillingham.

"He's the best," the talented quarterback said. "There's no other guy I would want to work with every day than him. He's so freaking funny honestly. He's super intelligent, and my Dad said he's one of the funniest but super-intelligent coaches out there when he first met him. I just can't wait to work with him."
