There was a moment there on Sunday night when I legitimately thought Florida State's football season was over.
Granted, with the way things have gone, that wouldn't have brought many tears to any of our eyes, but still, after a third straight postponement had been announced, part of me wondered: What is the point to all this anyway? Just scrap 2020 and move on to 2021.
Clemson didn't want to come back to Tallahassee. Neither did Virginia. So why even bother trying to reschedule those games? Just rip off the Band-Aid (which is soaked with blood after this season) and get the whole thing over with.
But I have to admit, after seeing what the ACC decided to do with the final two weeks of the regular season, I think I can speak (well, write in this case) for many of you and say that I'm glad it's continuing.

Hosting Duke on Dec. 12 and then traveling to Wake Forest on Dec. 19 gives head coach Mike Norvell and his staff a chance to maybe, juuuuuuust maybe, finish this season out on a positive note.
At least more positive than it would have been if Clemson had come down here and tried to put up 100 because of some bizarre, ill-conceived notion that FSU made them come all the way down to Tallahassee just to scream, "Gotcha!," and then cancel the game because they didn't want to get beat.
To that point, if the ACC isn't ever -- like EVER -- going to come out and tell Dabo (the foremost expert on COVID-19 in the United States) to quit accusing a fellow conference member of being cowardly because it wasn't comfortable with the protocols Clemson had taken in the previous week, the least it could do was take the Tigers off the schedule and replace them with David Cutcliffe and the Blue Devils.
That's a win for FSU no matter how the game against Duke turns out. Because Dabo doesn't get the satisfaction of mercilessly pulverizing the Seminoles and then mocking them afterward. That can wait until next year.
And by the way, where will that game be played next year? Will Clemson come back in 2021? Will Florida? Will FSU's home schedule next season seriously consist of Miami, Notre Dame, Clemson and UF?
