CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Dabo Swinney isn't about making predictions. But he is about supporting the Atlantic Coast Conference. It's for that reason he'll root for Florida State when it opens the season against Alabama on Sept. 2.

Swinney spoke Thursday during the Atlantic Division's session of ACC Kickoff. At first, he declined to pick a winner for when the Crimson Tide and Seminoles meet at the new Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta as part of the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Classic.

The Alabama alum then was asked if he would cheer for his alma mater or pull for a fellow ACC team.

"I'm just pulling for a great game and I'm just pulling for the 'Noles, man," Swinney said with a smile. "The 'Noles are in this conference, and you hope to see those guys get off to a good start. I think all of us in this league pull for each other. I don't think there's any question about that.

"The [Southeastern Conference] is the same way in matchups like that. They all pull for each other."
