Does FSU have a shot at Floridas crown jewel

It's been over four months since five-star offensive lineman Carl Johnson shocked the recruiting world with a quick commitment to Florida. Even though the Gators are still his team, in the month of October and November, he will see the 'Noles on three different occasions. He was at the Duke-FSU game last weekend, he'll attend the FSU-Clemson game in two weeks, and then take his only official visit when the 'Noles take on the Gators on November 26th.

"The coaches from FSU were up here last week to see him play," said Southern High School Head Coach Jeff Parker. "They are letting us know that they are still interested. We're letting the season play out, but they are definitely still interested."
Parker is not only Johnson's Head Coach, but he's also a father to him which means most recruiting issues go through him. Still, teams like FSU, NC State, Clemson, South Carolina, UNC, Georgia, LSU, and Nebraska are calling, hoping to change Johnson's mind. For now, his mind seems set, but that could change over the next few months.
"He told the coaches (FSU) that he is still solid to UF," said Parker. "He's excited about getting down there (Gainesville). But I told them that nothing is official until he's enrolled in classes."
The 6-foot-6, 348-pound giant plans to graduate in December and enroll in college in January. He's fully qualified with a 2.75 GPA and a 910 SAT score. On the field this season as an offensive lineman, he has graded out over 90 percent in every game. On defense, in this his first season on that side of the ball, the Rivals100 member has 20 tackles for loss and a couple sacks.
"Most schools are recruiting him as an offensive lineman," said Parker. "He's so athletic that he could play either one. But he realizes he could be a special offensive tackle. The other schools realize that they will be able to make one last push. It'll be great to see the interest in him so they can all see the kind of kid he is."
