Fisher praises FSU QB Francois; says he's getting 'better and better'
What started as a discussion about finding consistency on offense, soon turned into Jimbo Fisher providing a glowing assessment of how Deondre Francois performed last season.
Fisher told reporters after Thursday's practice he was not only pleased with how Francois did in his first year but expects him to "make a lot of money" should he reach the NFL.
Francois, a redshirt sophomore, had one of the best seasons by a first-year quarterback in school history last season. He threw for 3,350 yards, 20 touchdowns and seven interceptions, yet Fisher was more impressed by how Francois performed in close situations.
Fisher cited how Francois, who led FSU to a 10-3 record in 2016, guided the team on four game-winning drives. He also talked about Francois gave FSU a chance in its two close losses to Clemson and North Carolina.
"Brought us back at Ole Miss, brought you back against North Carolina, Miami, Michigan, N.C. State. The year he head, this guy's a big-time player," Fisher said. "He can play, he can lead, he's tough, he's accurate and can throw the ball. He'll make a lot of money in this game one day with the way he plays.
"He's getting better and better, and he's worked hard and does a good job."
