Once again, it looks like Florida State will close with an outstanding recruiting class. This shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone who follows the Seminoles. Since taking over as head coach in 2010, Jimbo Fisher has led FSU to seven straight top-10 and three straight top-five recruiting classes.
With the recent commitments of five-star defensive end Josh Kaindoh and five-star running back Cam Akers, the Seminoles are back in the top 10 for the Class of 2017. With around a half-dozen spots still left to fill, and several top-rated uncommitted prospects high on FSU’s radar, another top-five class is well within FSU’s sights. If that happens, it will give the 'Noles a fourth straight top-five class -- Alabama is the only other school that has accomplished that feat.
Just a few weeks ago, fans on social media and Warchant.com’s message boards expressed concern that the upcoming class might not be up to FSU’s usual high standards. At the time, the class was ranked No. 20 and lacked a single five-star commitment. But as was the case last year, Fisher and his staff are following a similar pattern of closing with a bang.
