It didn't take long for former Seminole quarterback Casey Weldon to get back into coaching.

Just months after being fired as the head football coach at his alma mater, North Florida Christian High School, Weldon will have a new job just a few miles away at Leon High School. The 39-year old Tallahassee native will take over the duties as offensive coordinator under former Seminole Bill Ragans, who took over as head coach of the Lions just last year.
Weldon will re-enter coaching with some established talent to work with this season. Quarterback Austin Dantin is entering his third year as a starter and threw for over 2,500 yards last season. The Lions also boast one of the top linemen in the Big Bend in Andrew Carter, as well as four-star wide receiver James Green, who scored two touchdowns in last week's spring Jamboree.
"I'm looking forward to working with Austin and the younger kid (at quarterback)," Weldon told Warchant.com. "I've watched him at a couple practices. And I get to learn from Jim Sauls and working with Bill Ragans, he's a great guy. It should be a lot of fun."
Weldon will take over the coordinator duties from veteran coach Jim Sauls. Sauls will remain on the offensive staff and the two will work hand-in-hand coming up with an offensive game-plan for the upcoming season.
"I'm working with coach Sauls, I've got his playbook," Weldon said. "We are going to kind of marriage some things together. We'll get going here starting in the summer."
For the former 'Nole signal-caller there are several good reasons why Leon is a perfect fit. Not only will he get to stay in Tallahassee, and work with a former Seminole and good friend in Ragans, he will coach where his 15-year old daughter Lexi attends school.
"That's a big part of it, she wanted me to," Weldon said. "I asked my wife, her mom, a couple times and got her blessing. The second biggest part is my dad at our company, Allstate Construction, he said he would allow me the time to do it."
