Pulling top prospects out of Armwood High in Seffner, Fla., has never been easy for Florida State's football program. However, new head coach Willie Taggart doesn't seem all that concerned about what's happened in the past.

Taggart not only is pushing hard for four-star wide receiver Warren Thompson, who previously was committed to Taggart when he was at Oregon, but also four-star defensive end Malcolm Lamar, who also had committed to the Ducks.

Thompson has since backed out of his Oregon pledge, while Lamar is still committed to the Pac-12 school. Whether he remains with the Ducks is to be determined, however.

Lamar said he is planning to take several official visits and is coming to terms with the idea that Taggart is no longer the head coach at Oregon.

"Oh, I was shocked," Lamar said of his initial reaction. "But then when I found out that it was his dream job to be at FSU, it made a lot of sense and I totally understood."

Lamar, who grew up a fan of the Florida Gators, said he and Thompson are best friends. And while he plans to make visits to UF and Oregon, he also is going to visit Florida State this weekend to get a better feel for the 'Noles.
