The coaches worked on punting at the beginning of the day with Graham Gano, Brent Moody and John McKnight splitting time at punter. Chris Davis, Richard Goodman, Russell Ball, Tony Carter and De'Cody Fagg alternated as punt returners.
QUOTES FROM HEAD COACH BOBBY BOWDEN
(on what he is looking for in Saturday's scrimmage)
"You kind of find out where you are, how far along you are, and the kind of improvement they've made."
(on this week of practice)
"Anytime you don't get a bunch of injuries it's a good week. We're going to get better if we can practice, but the guys that can't practice can't get any better. I think we've been pretty fortunate to have the number of injuries we've had."
(on the focus of the scrimmage)
"We'll still put the same emphasis on the run that we have, probably about two out of every three (plays). I've seen progress. We've moved the ball well up and down the field compared to the past, but we've still got to make some improvements there and keep improving. It's so hard to evaluate when you're playing against your team, you don't know if the defense is doing worse, or if you're doing better offensively. It's really hard to get those answers."
