Orlando (Fla.) Boone four-star defensive end Shambre Jackson ended up with over 30 offers, and it came down to Alabama and Florida State, but the in-state Seminoles beat the Crimson Tide for the in-state target.
"It was really stressful going through everything because I had all the offers, then I grew up a Florida State fan, but I really liked Alabama, so it wasn't all that easy," said Jackson.
"It came down to me having the best relationship with the coaches at Florida State. I talk to the entire coaching staff. I am close to coach Haggins, coach Fuller and coach Norvell.
"Alabama is great, and I liked them a lot too, but Florida State is it for me."
Jackson announced his commitment publicly this week, but the 6-foot-4, 247 pound nightmare on defense knew of his decision earlier.
"I have been leaning towards Florida State for a couple of months, but I made my decision in my mind a couple of weeks ago. I then told the Florida State coaches about it Sunday night.
"Since the spring, Florida State has been recruiting me really hard. We have talked a lot, I have connected with the coaches and it is the place for me.
"I have visited twice and the atmosphere in Tallahassee is my favorite. I was at the Louisville game last season, I was on a visit by myself before things shutdown in the spring and I love it.
"I grew up a big fan, I love the coaches and I have been thinking Florida State for a while now."
He can't wait to play for Odell Haggins and help Mike Norvell get the Seminoles back to the top.
"Playing for coach Haggins, I know he can make me a lot better," said Jackson. "He can develop players, he knows how to get guys to the NFL and I know I am going to love playing for him.
"I like coach Norvell a lot too. I see a bright future at Florida State under him. I like how the freshmen are playing this season, and my class is really going to help. I am excited about the future."
