Florida State, meet blue turf.
The school announced Monday that it has agreed to a home-and-home series with Boise State to be played in 2019 and 2020.
Florida State will play Boise State in Tallahassee on Sept. 7, 2019, then make the trip to Boise on September 12, 2020.
Outside of archival Florida, Florida State had no out of conference games scheduled past 2015 until this agreement. Boise State already has an agreement to play BYU in 2019 and 2020.
With a weak schedule in 2012 and another subpar home slate on deck for 2013, Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher and other FSU administrators have publicly discussed the focus to strengthening the Seminoles' out of league competition.
Florida State will play Oklahoma State in Dallas to kick off the 2014 season. Because of its agreement with the ACC, Notre Dame could also come on the FSU schedule as soon as 2014.
"We are very excited to add Boise State to our future football schedule," Florida State Athletic Director Randy Spetman said in a release. "Boise State has an excellent football program and we feel this will be an out of conference game that will be exciting for fans of both schools and appealing to TV networks.
"Adding the Broncos to our football schedule continues our commitment to bringing top quality opponents to Doak Campbell Stadium. With our neutral site game versus Oklahoma State in 2014, the addition of Pitt and Syracuse to the ACC and now this series, we feel we are putting our football program in the best possible position to compete in the new BCS beginning in 2014."
