The much-anticipated official visit for Long Beach (Calif.) Poly tight end Camren McDonald began this past Friday evening when he arrived in Tallahassee. And even though he already knew a good bit about the Florida State program and how he would be used in Willie Taggart's offense, the trip was still an eye-opener.

"I loved everything about it," said McDonald, who recently committed to the Seminoles despite never visiting campus. "It's not just a football town here. There's a lot more going on than I thought about the city. FSU was very impressive. I can't wait to get here and get to work. Unfortunately, I can't enroll early, but that's all right as I'll be here in May when I report. Loved this visit though."

McDonald said his host this weekend was fellow tight end Tre' McKitty, who gave the four-star prospect the lowdown on what to expect in college. The two appeared to strike a strong bond from the start.

"Loved him," McDonald said. "Tre' was great, and he was real about everything. The coaches are really down to earth. They connect with the players, and you see that already. I also know Coach Taggart is going to put me in great position as a person and student-athlete."

Although he has the size to play inside at tight end, McDonald also possesses the athletic ability and ball skills to play wide receiver. FSU's coaches spent a good bit of time explaining how his talent would be featured in the Seminoles' offense.

"They are going to use me a lot in the middle of the field and spread teams out off the edge," McDonald said. "My family (mom and dad) loved the visit as well. I think they were a little hesitant coming over here because they just didn't know about FSU. But after visiting, they are all in. They loved it."

The California product said he also was impressed by the variety of people he encountered during the visit.
