HARTFORD, Conn. -- Senior forward Phil Cofer, who learned after Thursday's NCAA Tournament opener that his father, Mike, had passed away following a lengthy illness, is staying with the team through the weekend, FSU head coach Leonard Hamilton confirmed Friday.

Cofer met with team and school officials late Thursday night to decide if he should stay or leave to be with family members. Although Cofer is staying in Hartford, Hamilton said he doubted the forward will be able to play in Saturday's game against Murray State.

The fifth-year senior from Fayetteville, Ga., missed the Seminoles' 76-69 victory over Vermont with a foot injury.

Tipoff Saturday is scheduled for 6:10 p.m. and will air on TNT.
