Former Florida State star and current NBA player Terance Mann has rejoined the FSU men’s basketball program as its assistant general manager, head coach Luke Loucks announced.
Mann’s role will include supporting strategic roster management, optimization of talent acquisition and developing future professional basketball players on and off the court. He will also be a primary partner in FSU’s alumni advisory council established by Loucks.
“Terance Mann is a tremendous representative of Florida State,” Loucks said. “He was part of one of the best stretches in recent FSU men’s basketball history and has continued to be an impact player in the NBA. Terance loves Florida State and will now have the ability to directly influence the people within our program. He has personally seen the benefits of playing here and earning a degree from Florida State University, and he understands what it takes to make it at the next level. Terance will be a great resource for our staff and our players as we build our team and develop this program.”
Mann played in a school-record 140 games and was part of the winningest senior class in program history after leading the Seminoles to 98 wins and three NCAA Tournament appearances. He was a team captain his senior year when Florida State won a school-record 29 games and advanced to the Sweet 16 for the second consecutive year. FSU also earned a school-record 13 regular-season ACC wins and advanced to the championship game of the ACC Tournament on its way to a No. 10 ranking in the AP poll behind Mann’s 11.4 points and team-high 6.5 rebounds per game.
“My experience at Florida State played a tremendous role in shaping my career,” said Mann. “I’m so excited to take on this role and work to help FSU get to a national championship.”
In his junior season, Mann led Florida State into the Elite Eight by scoring a game-high 18 points in a 75-60 victory over Gonzaga in the Sweet 16. He averaged 12.6 points and 5.4 rebounds per game while averaging nearly 30 minutes of playing time. Mann was an All-ACC selection in both his junior and senior seasons and was named to the All-West Region Team at the 2018 NCAA Tournament and to the 2019 ACC All-Tournament Team. In addition to his school-record games played total, he ranks in the top 20 of FSU’s all-time career lists in scoring, rebounding, field goal percentage and games started.
Mann was selected by the Los Angeles Clippers in the second round of the 2019 NBA Draft and was traded to the Atlanta Hawks in February 2025.
He has played in at least 60 games in each of the last five seasons, with a high of 81 games played in both 2021-22 and 2022-23. In the 2021 NBA Playoffs, he helped the Clippers reach the Western Conference Finals for the first time in franchise history. In the series-clinching Game 6 win in the Western Conference Semifinals, Mann scored a career-high 39 points behind seven three-pointers to lead a 25-point comeback. He became the first player in franchise history to score 20 points in a single quarter in a postseason game and only the third Clippers player to make at least seven three-pointers in a postseason game.
Mann joins Trae Young, an Oklahoma alumni, who is playing in the NBA while helping out his alma mater. Steph Curry is also taking on a role at his alma mater, Davidson.
