The recruiting process doesn't have to be complicated.

Rivals100 defensive back AJ Lytton made it clear from the start that Florida State was his dream school, and he officially committed to the Seminoles on Thursday.

Although his decision wasn't a major surprise, Lytton did want to make sure he gave other schools the chance to change his mind. In the end, though, he never could shake the feelings he had from his visit to FSU this past February.

"I would say they will be tough to beat," Lytton said at the time. "Just the culture, community here is special. The first day we got a chance to see all the dorms, campus and what it's like there. Seeing the indoor facility. I also saw what I could major in. So all of that was big for me."

One of the keys for FSU was the relationship Lytton developed with assistant coaches Odell Haggins and Charles Kelly.

Lytton, the No. 1 player in the state of Maryland, said his mother particularly was impressed by Haggins, who has helped FSU recruit several players from the "DMV" area (D.C., Maryland, Virginia) in recent years.

"He has a great relationship with my family and my mother," Lytton said. "I feel very comfortable around Coach Odell. I also got a chance to meet Coach [Jimbo] Fisher for the first time. He's a very genuine, down-to-earth guy."

Lytton is FSU's 10th commitment for the Class of 2018 and the third defensive back. Two weeks ago, the Seminoles landed the nation's No. 3 cornerback, Asante Samuel Jr.
