Cam Coleman could have been anywhere this weekend.
The three-star wide receiver according to Rivals has an extraordinary offer list that includes Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Clemson and just about every other prominent program in the Southeast.
However, the 6-foot-3, 175-pound wide receiver from Phenix City (Ala.) Central High chose to spend this weekend visiting Florida State to be a part of the Seminoles' Elite Camp Saturday night inside Doak Campbell Stadium.
"I could be on an official visit anywhere, but I chose to come here because of where they stand on my list..." Coleman said after his visit. "I feel like it's a great program here. Coach Norvell has something special going on here. I wanted to experience it."
Coleman previously visited FSU last fall for the Georgia Tech game in October. However, he wanted to come back to get a chance for a more in-depth visit on the Seminoles' campus. That's just what he got Saturday on a day that included a photoshoot, a look at what team meetings are like and a chance to get to know the FSU staff better and work out for them.
"This visit was (better)," Coleman said. "I got to see behind the scenes, the playbook a little bit. This was a great learning experience about the coaches and the program itself...Very intense. All of the coaches are very intense. They want you at the best of your abilities."
During the visit, Coleman further built the relationships he has with both FSU head coach Mike Norvell and wide receivers coach Ron Dugans.
"When we were over there doing the drill, he was telling me little small details from when he was a receivers coach. He was giving me some smart details that will take my game to the next level," Coleman said of Norvell.
Coleman added on Dugans: "He played here so he was telling me about the family atmosphere here and how he came back to coach. The relationship is getting closer and closer."
After a junior season where Coleman amassed 542 receiving yards and six touchdowns in 12 games, his profile has blown up as a recruit. While FSU already has four receivers committed in its 2024 class at the moment, FSU quarterback commit Luke Kromenhoek was still quite impressed with Coleman and believes there is a spot for him in the class.
"He's a freak athlete. One of the dudes that is high up there for us..." Kromenhoek said. "Definitely going to stay on him and try to get him over here in the garnet and gold."
Coming out of the visit to FSU, Coleman indicated that he anticipates he will take an official visit to FSU this fall for a home game. He wasn't yet clear on which game he will be attending.
