Florida State junior offensive lineman Wilson Bell was charged by Florida State University Police on Sunday with "failure to appear" on an earlier charge of hit-and-run on an unattended vehicle or property without leaving identification.

It is not clear from online Leon County court records whether Bell was actually taken into custody or just cited with the misdemeanor.

Bell, who has been a part-time starter over the last two seasons, returned to the starting lineup late in 2016 when freshman Landon Dickerson was sidelined by a knee injury. Pending this off-the-field matter, Bell is expected to start at right guard in FSU's Orange Bowl game against Michigan on Dec. 30.

According to the Leon County court database, Bell was originally cited in August for a July incident. He then was charged with failure to appear in court in mid-September.

According to FSU policy, student-athletes are suspended immediately if charged with a felony. Both of the charges Bell is facing are misdemeanors.

Bell made headlines earlier this year for a positive off-the-field story, when he was selected by the university to represent FSU and the ACC on the NCAA's Autonomy Committee.
